Press statement by Lieutenant-Colonel Sitiveni Rabuka, leader of the coup, on the coup in Fiji (14/05/87) which saw the overthrow of Prime Minister, Timoci Bavadra. He claims the coup was undertaken without violence, was necessary, is accepted by the people and promises to protect ethnic groups and calls for other countries to recognise them.
