- Description
- Labour is responding cautiously to plans to erect an anti-terrorist cordon around the City of London. Checkpoints will be introduced on key routes, at which armed police will stop and search vehicles, while some roads will be closed to traffic. The measures follow the Bishopsgate and Baltic Exchange bombings which cost four lives and caused one billion pounds’ worth of damage. Shadow Home Affairs Minister, Joan Ruddock says civil liberties must be protected. Male interviewer not identified (poss. Paul Rowley).
