In the biggest shake up in education for 40 years, A levels and other exams are to be tightened up and there’ll also be a new National Diploma for A level students who want to broaden their studies. Sir Ron Dearing’s report to the government on education is warmly welcomed by Education Secretary Gillian Shephard speaking in the Commons.
