Description
After months of speculation, veteran left winger Tony Benn has announced he will challenge Neil Kinnock’s leadership of the Labour Party at its annual contest in the autumn with Eric Heffer as his running mate. The decision was taken by the hard left campaign group of Labour MPs which has been critical of the party’s drift from socialism to attract the middle class vote. Tony Benn and Eric Heffer explain their reasons for standing. Paul Rowley reports.
