In the Nicaraguan elections today Violetta Chamorro has defeated the incumbent, President Daniel Ortega. Labour MP George Foulkes is in Nicaragua to observe the election and says it’s a good day for democracy but the influence of the USA has been overwhelming. Looks to the future of the country now USA trade sanctions and US-backed guerilla activitites will stop, and likely attutude of the new government. Male interviewer not identified.
