Description
London’s policemen say they’re pleased to be getting more 999 calls than ever before, partly due to more people having mobile phones. Dominic Waghorn visits a radio control room in Marylebone Police Station and goes out on a call with PC Dave Shaw who comments on the usual speed of getting to urgent incidents. In ninety percent of urgent incidents last year, London’s police were at the scene within twelve minutes. Chief Inspector Steve Benn says officers are prepared for the current trend of increase in calls to continue and that the response target scheme is a useful exercise.
