A vote in the Commons just squeezed through to ensure Public Interest Immunity Certificates would not be used again as they were in the Matrix Churchill case where the so-called gagging orders contributed to collapse of a trial against the company accused of exporting arms illegally to Iraq. Conservative MP Rupert Allason decided to remain loyal to the government and is pleased by the result.
