Description
Parliamentary correspondent Robert Allen reports from Westminster, where Tony Blair attacks John Major (both heard) during Prime Minister’s Question Time after Chancellor Kenneth Clarke admitted his deputy, William Waldegrave, had unintentionally mislead Parliament over the Arms to Iraq affair investigated by the Scott Report. During Northern Ireland Questions Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble, bitterly criticised the IRA for ending its ceasefire and renewing its bombing campaign which has effectively ended the peace process. Also discussed was the oil spill from the Sea Empress, which became grounded off Milford Haven in Wales with speakers Shadow Transport Secretary Clare Short and Transport Secretary Sir George Young and Welsh MPs Nick Ainger and Paul Flynn failing to get an apology.
