- Description
- Former US senator George Mitchell has been in London, and condemns the IRA’s resumption of violence and the London Docklands bombing, calling for a fresh ceasefire. Mitchell is still optimistic about the prospects for peace, follows his leading of an inquiry into weapons decommissioning. Republican John McCain is angry at Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams’ refusal to condemn IRA violence, whilst fundraising in America. But George Mitchell says he will not push the President to block a US visa for Adams. However, White House spokesman Mike McCurry admits a re-think into granting the visa is underway. News 97.3’s Jeff Collins reports.
