Sir Ron Dearing, Chairman of the Schools’ Curriculum and Assessment Authority, is drawing up plans for the Education Secretary for greater emphasis on vocational training in schools, he speaks about the benefits . John Sutton, General Secretary of the Secondary Heads Association (at whose conference Dearing revealed the plans) says it would encourage youngsters of a lower ability to stay on.
