- Description
- Areas of Central London are still sealed off after an explosion ripped a double decker bus apart last night near Aldwych. Our reporters Lisa Costello and Paul Maurice have been on the scene and report on events and casualties. Speaking are: eyewitnesses to aftermath Jonathan Bray and Canadian tourist Mark Johnson; Superintendent Bob Kynnersley gives a curt statement to waiting journalists; London Transport spokeswoman Anne Laker is warning the public to be vigilant; Dr David Williams at St Thomas’ Hospital which took in the casualties. The explosion happened on the eve of a commons debate on the Northern Ireland Emergency Provisions Bill intended to renew emergency powers for a two-year period from April. Some outside broadcast sounds muffled.
