Camilla Affleck reports on the closure of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s two London theatres for four months to save £1.3million out of a deficit of £2.9million.The RSC’s artistic director Terry Hands says the alternative is total closure, whilst Arts Council director Iain Reid claims their hands are tied; Labour’s Shadow Arts Minister Mark Fisher says Arts Minister Richard Luce shouldn’t wash his hands of the problem.
