- UK Prime Minister John Major and US President Bill Clinton have met in Pittsburgh to discuss Northern Ireland, Russia and the Bosnian war. NATO planes acting on behalf of the UN have shot down Bosnian-Serb planes breaching the no-fly zone over Bosnia and in speeches at Washington Major and Clinton are heard justifying the action. Clinton has spoken to Russia’s President Boris Yeltsin about Bosnia whilst Major will meet UN Secretary General Bhutros Bhutros-Ghali later today. Report by Paul Woodley.
