Pre-election press conference featuring Labour Party Treasury spokesperson, Margaret Beckett, at which she criticises the Conservative Government’s handling of the economy. She says that each British family is paying more than two thousand pounds a year in hidden subsidies, as a result of what she calls Tory mismanagement. The Conservatives have long proclaimed themselves a tax-cutting party. But Beckett says that the nation has had to bear the brunt of increases in unemployment benefit, VAT, and the poll tax.
