Trade and Industry Secretary, Leon Brittan explains his version of events in the Cabinet leading up to Defence Secretary Michael Heseltine’s resignation. He tells how the Cabinet had agreed that no one should campaign for either option in the Westland takeover, but Heseltine’s refusal to cooperate had compromised his colleagues and left him (Brittan) in an embarrassing position.
