- Iraq has launched scud missiles at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Iraq’s chief diplomat in Washington, Khalid J. Shewayish, accuses the Allies of bombing thousands of innocent people. The United States says the blitz of Iraq will go on for months, despite their filming of prisoners of war. Chris Hogg of the (British-based) Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Familes Association (SSAFA) says British TV companies should not re-broadcast the images. In the UK, Parliament voted in support of Britain’s military involvement in the Gulf. Nicky Broyd reports.
