The return to Britain of Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Dr Michael Stroud, who were forced to halt their trek across Antarctica having covered 1,350 miles and set two world records. Fiennes stating on arrival at Heathrow Airport that the main aim of the jouney had been to complete the first crossing without outside aid or air assistance.
