Civilians arriving back at Heathrow Airport express relief after being evacuated from Beirut, Lebanon. Surveyor Len Orton(?) describes the ordeal as devastating. The families were evacuated to Cyprus before returning to the UK. Teacher Val Merran(?) was caught up in the fighting in West Beirut. Doctor Chris Wally(?) who works at the American University in Beirut decided to join the evacuees with his wife and two babies. Simon Clark(?) teaches English in East Beirut and says he was inches from being killed. He praises the evacuation. Female reporter not identified.
