- UK Prime Minister John Major on Britain’s relationship with Russia, after meeting Russian President Boris Yeltsin in London and signing a declaration entitled Partnership in the 90s. Yeltsin, speaking through an interpreter, warns that without help from the West, Russia’s reforms would fail. Major announces plans to contribute 280 million pounds of aid to the federation countries as well as plans to establish a secure telephone link. Major and Yeltsin will both fly to New York for a special meeting of the UN Security Council. Peter Russell reports.
