Report on author Salman Rushdie withdrawing the paperback edition of his book, The Satanic Verses, in the hope doing so will draw a line under the outrage among Muslims claiming it was blasphemous. Rushdie says he hopes the process of reconciliation started by some Muslim groups can continue but Iqbal Sacranie speaking for the UK Action Committee on Islamic Affairs wants a total withdrawal of the book.
