- Paul Chapman reports from the capital’s annual New Year’s Day London Parade, which has been celebrating its tenth birthday with an attempt on the world record for the biggest-ever marching band. More than 50 bands from across the world tried to march and play in time - sadly, they failed. Speakers include Jerome Smith from the Lyndon B. Johnson High School Band, Texas; fellow band member Megan Simpson; Faye Laws from the Wembley Eclipse Majorettes, and her sister Nina; parade organiser Bob Bone; balloon handler Gerry Zakes; hobby horse bike rider Ken Hancock of the Veteran Cycle Club; Dr Barbara Bonner-Morgan, campaigning to save Bart’s Hospital in London from closure; Betty Boop look-and-sound-alike Debbi Fuhrman.
