- Description
- SUNDAY SUPPLEMENT: A series of programmes with interviews and music, transmitted from 16:00 to 17:00 on Ocean Sound North. The Light FM. Presented by Amanda Ware. CD52- Interview with Alec McCowen, actor. Our guest today is as much at home on Broadway as the West End, and handles anything from bard to James Bond with equal dexterity. Currently touring in a one man show, he loves the spoken word. Born in May 26, 1925 as Alexander Duncan McCowen, he is best known for his strikingly individual stage performances in modern and classical roles including Shakespeare. He talks about his participation as the Fool in Paul Scofield’s King Lear. In January 1978 he devised and directed his own solo performance of the complete text of the Saint Mark’s Gospel, for which he received worldwide acclaim and another Tony nomination. He talks about his life and his career and about his appearance at the moment in the Chichester Theatre Festival. He is touring 30 dates in two months. [Box 11]
