Description
SUNDAY SUPPLEMENT: A series of programmes with interviews and music, transmitted from 16:00 to 17:00 on Ocean Sound North. The Light FM. Presented by Adam Harding and others where mentioned. CD28- Interview with Tracy Edwards, ocean yachtswoman. Track 5 is the outro. Today we meet an intrepide round the world woman, who is planning to skeapper the first all female crew in the sport’s greatest challenge: the 33 thousand miles around the world yacht race. She began in ballet school, but decided that points and piruettes were not for her. At the age of 15 years old, she made up her mind to see the world. After a two years tour of Europe, at the time when her classmates were studying for O Levels, Tracy found herself working in a Greek bar and came the break that she was dreaming of: the chance to be a stewardess on a motor cruise to the Mediterranean. One thing turns to another and 3 years ago she entered the history books by taking part in a Round the World Yacht Race. Born on 5 September 1962, in Reading, she talks about her life, her career and specially about her experiences in the races. [Box 11]
