Description
The Business Programme, broadcast on Monday evenings and presented by Rob Thomas. Track 1- Isle of Wight Company in Iran; Shortages and pay. The end of Iran-Iraq conflict to signals the start of the race to win a slice of a business bonanza, as both sides rebuild their economies. However, even the OECD is unsure as to the debts incurred by the two countries during the 8 years of war. VICOM International, the ISLE OF WIGHT based oil pollution control specialist has a few doubts, and are amongst the leading group of British companies heading for the Iranian capital this week, ready for the opening of the Teheran international trade fair next Monday. Organisers of the British delegation, have a little over 4 weeks to set it all up. VICOM’s director Mike says, his company has lost little time to attend. He says that the Gulf is tremendously polluted and is affecting the whole environment, production of food, etc. Now, peace has broken out in Middle East, and they can now sell products and services to Iran and make a fair trade. He is optimistic. Track 2- An interview with Sunny Crouch, the marketing director of Portsmouth City Council. She wants to market the city to obtain more income from tourism of the Southsea area. Tourism can come from 3 different sources of people: UK holidaymakers, holidaymakers from abroad and Tourism Conferences. Track 3- The IBM in Havant won the award being one of the top 6 factories in Britain. An interview with Russ Kite, personnel manager of IBM, talking about the successful relationship between the people that work in the company. The main objective is to produce a very competitive high quality product from a satisfied workforce. Track 4 - The trail of the programme. [Box 8]
