Description
Roger Kennedy talks to Alan Davey, a local businessman, who amongst other things, he has just taken over one of the South’s biggest night clubs within the area: the Sun’s Place Night Club in Portsmouth. He talks about his life and his career, and how he started this kind of business. He said that when he was 5 years-old, his family emigrated to Australia, lived there for 5 years, then they came back to England. His first job was in a sail factory, then he was a civil servant for a while at the Ministry of Public Building and Works. Then, he got a job as a crew P.A. in a cruise ship to Greece. After 3 years, he started a business with a partner in international gaming for local ferries. He got into the gaming concession business. Then he went into property, and finally he bought this discotheque that now is his source of revenue. [Box 7]
