Hobby Horse No.6: short programmes about hobbies -nd [1975-1986] presented by Roger Kennedy. Track 1- Genealogy - a fast growing hobby. Interview with Michael and Mary Talbot from the Genealogical Society in Gosport. They explain all about this hobby and how they got interested. First you become interested to know all about your ancestors. You make questions to all the members of your family and then you go back to trace the ancestors that your family do not know. The Parish where your family lived have the information of dates of birth, baptism and death. And every county in England and Wales have their own Genealogical Society. It is a fascinating hobby to discover your ancestors. Track 2- Amateur Dramatics. Interview with Jane Hope of the Bench Theatre. It is a hobby for all kind of people for different reasons. People get more self confidence, and they can perform better in their lives. Then you involve different sort of tasks to make a play and it is very fun and enjoyable. The local public libraries have a list of Amateur groups in the area. Track 3- Indoor Tennis. Jeff from the Royal Navy Indoor Tennis Centre in Portsmouth talks about this sport and the place. It is an inflatable dome and it is good for any season of the year. To be a member is very cheap and it is a great pleasure to participate. Track 4- Painting. Carl talks about this subject. She says that anyone with some interest can learn to paint on canvas. Painting is different than drawing. She explains everything you need for a start, costs, etc. Track 5- Amateur Radio. Talks about building equipment, everything you need to get started. A home construction leads to communication and you can communicate with people all around the world, it breaks all the bareers. There are local radio amateurs clubs and they help you in everything you need. Track 6- Astronomy. Roger Kennedy is in the Portsmouth Astronomical Society and talks to John. He explains all about this hobby and how he got interested into it. Track 7- Home Jewellery Making. Interview with Chris, who has workshop in which he makes jewellery as a hobby. He explains how he got interested and everything you need to get started. He saw a leaflet in the public library giving evening lessons, they teach the basic skills and they list all the materials you need, etc. [Box 7]
