Gallery in Fareham called Screens - usually shows original room screens. Currently showing work by Frank Jennings and Tim Gunther from Southdowns College. TIM GUNTHER has designed brick cow-play sculpture for children in Waterlooville - not to be built due to lack of funds. FRANK JENNINGS - several exhibits eg pyramids in boxes obscured by sand, etc. BEN HOLDING hopes gallery will receive greater publicity. 2. Film diary - films in the south of Hampshire. Cognac Film Festival - Gerard Sturm interviewed. Out - ... Cognac Film Festival. TRACK 2- In - Good evening... 1. JILL LEVICK Arts and Community Officer for Hampshire CC Recreation Department talks about Village Circuit - touring theatre companies which was started 4 years previously by Peter Mason former Arts and Community Officer. Uses professional theatre companies, dance, music, puppet shows, films willing to visit small village halls with different facilities [about 300 villages] Villages agree pay minimum of 35 pounds for show [actual cost 200 pounds] 2. Dance for Africa, 24 November Kings Theatre, Southsea. Coming in Late, by Lip Service at Portsmouth Drama Centre. Scarlatti’s Birthday, at Gantry. Royal Shakespeare at Alton Sports Centre [Taming of the Shrew and Happy End] The First Sunday in Every Month, at Nuffield Theatre - review by JANE WHITELOCK 3. PAUL LEWIS - summary of arts news. a-abolition of Metropolitan Counties will mean some theatre companies etc., will lose funding. Arts Council does not have sufficient funds to make up difference. b- Eastleigh Arts Festival planned for following year. c- Future of Gaumont, Southampton. d- Other arts events during week.
