Gainsboro boss Tiny Rowland should know later today whether his deal with Sir Freddie Laker will get a licence, and get some Laker planes back in the air in a Peoples airlines. But, the millionaire has already come to the aid of a Reading Football team caught up in the Laker crash. Gainsboro Football Club’s 10 and 11 year olds have spent the last year raising nearly nine thousand pounds to pay for a trip to America in the summer and had booked their flights with the airline before the collapse. It seemed they were going to loose all their money, but now Mr Rowlands has said he will pay for the flight whether or not he gets the go-ahead for his scheme with Sir Freddie. Parr - the team’s manager, says it is hard to explain how he feels at the ws. [Box 6]
