This week has seen, for the moment at least, an end to the uncertainties in the Reading Football Club boardroom. On Tuesday, Roger Smee was elected to the board by the shareholders, and 24 hours later his colleagues on that board appointed him chairman. At the same meeting, which lasted more than 10 hours, a strategy for bringing the club back to live was mapped out. Mr Smee says their plans are far reaching. The man who has had the uneviable job of fielding a side for the last months of the season with the gloom of uncertainty hanging both him and the players. He says he is glad it is over. [Box 6]
