- Mike Matthews in association with Vincent’s BMW, this week visits the village of Lambourne, to find out about village life. It lies in the Epping Forest district of Essex, on the B4001, approximately 4 and half miles South of Epping and 5 miles Northwest of Ramford. This village was always associated with Horse Racing. Track 1 -His first interview is with John Rodborne, who is a racing correspondent. His father and grandfather were also racing correspondents since 1856. The second interview is with a craftsman that makes and sells Christmas decorations. He explains how he does everything by hand and how he markets them. Track 2 - Mike Matthews talks with John Coles, manager of Thames Valley Eggs. The business started in 1934 and he tells the history of this business. A second interview with Malcolm Bentik. He runs a shop in Newbury Street that makes saddles for horses. Then, a third interview with John Penfold, who has lived in Lambourne all his life and he talks about the history of the village. On Track 3, in the woodlands of Lambourne, Mike Matthews talks to Nick, manager of the Motorway Service Station. He says that about 6.5 million tourists pass there every year, it is a very busy place, and he has to provide all the basic necessities of the customers: petrol, toilets, food and shopping. [Box 4]
