Description
The guest today is Richard Leakley, anthropologist, and author of several books. Born December 19, 1944 in Nairobi, Kenya, he is a Kenyan paleontologist and conservationist. He talks about his book Origins, explaining the process of human evolution. He talks also about the important fossil that he found in Ethiopia. His father got him permission to excavate on the Omo River, and from the results of that excavation, he identified what he called the Homo Sapiens. It was the oldest of the species found at that time, dating to 160,000 ya, and was the first contemporaneous with Homo Neanderthalensis. He likes Ancient Art, because it has the ability to freeze in time that moment of History. People paint because they want to give a message to the world, to contact others. He talks about the interesting subject of human evolution, Darwin’s theory, about races, our brains and scientific investigations. He talks about his life and his career. [Box 4]
