Description
Mike Matthews talks to Jenny Hanley, born August 15, 1947. She is an English actress, the daughter of Dinah Sheridan and Jimmy Hanley. She remains best known for being one of the presenters of the ITV children’s magazine programme Magpie, from 1974 to 1980. She also appeared in James Bond film: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and the Hammer horror film: Scars of Dracula. She talks about her life and her career. After education at various schools in Southern England and in Switzerland, she trained as a nanny and did modelling work in London. She talks about her origins: from the mother side, of Russian descendent, and from the father, of German descendent. She talks about her grandfather making photos of Cabbages, and other photos, winning a prize of best photo and he ended up being a photographer of the Royal Family. He wrote a book: From Cabbages to Kings. Now, she is running a pub together with her husband, and she enjoys cooking and being in a business. The programme was re-transmitted on 27-11-1983. [Box 4]
