Description
Police are making renewed attempts to solve a murder mystery that has been baffling them for a year. The naked body of London teenager Claire Woolterton was found beside the River Thames at Windsor last August. But police have never been able to establish exactly where she was killed, or why? Phil Coope reports: Claire Woolterton, a 17-year-old from Northolt, had spent her last evening in an amusement arcade in Ealing. She left to catch a bus home, but she never arrived. Her naked and mutilated body was found early the next morning by a businessman hurrying along a towpath beside the Thames in the shadow of Windsor Castle. Thames Valley Police are convinced they’re investigating a murder that was committed in London. But, they have mystified why her body was brought to Berkshire and dumped out in the open. Detective Superintendent Ken Linney in charge of the inquiry, has returned to the spot by the river in the hope of new publicity will help with the inquiry. The police say someone, somewhere must know who killed the popular teenager. Det. Supt. Linney says at the back of his mind is the worry that the killer could strike again. He has even taken calls from clairvoyants, psychics and mediums seriously, but his inquiries have still drawn a blank. This week detectives will be back on the streets of Ealing and Windsor hoping to find someone who can remember something from a year ago that might lead him to Claire’s killer. [Box 2]
