Reading Mayor, Basil Dunning, has today been visiting the Cup winners in this year’s Borough Council Clean Food Awards competition. Nearly a hundred premises have won awards this year, ranging from butchers to bakers, and pubs to take aways. Chris Hall caught up with the Mayor on his tour, and wondered if the number of award winners had surprised him. As Mr Dunning mentioned, this year’s awards have come as a double triumph for the White Horse in Kidmore End Road, who scooped the cup for the pub section for the second year running. Did landlord, Clive Desmond think that he stood a chance of winning again? [Box 2]
