Dr. Udwin has been running the hospital since Patrick McGrath retired earlier this year after 25 years in charge. Dr. Udwin will be only hold the post for the next 18 months until he retires in 1983. He is a controversial figure, and has come under fire in the past for recommending the release of patients who have murdered again after being freed. And since he has been running the hospital in the past few months, there have been two escapes of patients described by police as dangerous. [Box 2]
