- Description
- The Ken Thomas Appeal has launched a new scheme to raise money for their body scanner this lunchtime. A year since Ken Thomas himself died from cancer. To date the appeal has raised over 8 hundred and 30 thousand pounds of the one and a quarter million needed to buy and install the scanner at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Building work at the hospital is due to start in the New Year, and today the appeal organisers began selling bricks, for a minimum one pound the public gets a picture certificate of a brick and eventually all the counterfoils will be built into the special building at the Royal Berks. The Buy a Brick Campaign was launched by the Mayor of Reading, Basil Dunning. See also AV769/329/S1 and AV769/389/S1. [Box 2]
