Stress on the front line [Part 3]

Title
Stress on the front line [Part 3]
Date
1986
Description
Part 3. Stress on the Front Line: exhaustion, cynicism, confusion, fear of violence, trauma due to past violent attacks they are unable to admit ever happened - these are some of the feelings painfully recounted at first hand by social workers appearing in the programme. One woman describes how she broke down so severely that it took her 18 months to recover: she would never again undertake social work. The programme also includes new research suggestions that a quarter of those in the ‘welfare professions’ are suffering from chronic stress and are in danger of ‘cracking up’.
