Shakespeare in Gdansk

Synopsis
Radio programme. Michal Kubicki reports on the International Shakespearean Festival 2007 in Gdansk. He talks to Jerzy Limon, a theatre historian and scholar who in the early 1990s discovered traces of a Shakespearean playhouse in Gdansk. An important merchant town in the 17th century, the Baltic city appears to have had quite a large British colony with documented visits by English actors. One of the goals of the Shakespeare Festival is to promote Limon’s project to reconstruct the theatre that resembles the Fortune in London.
