- Synopsis
- Educational television series on classical ballets created and hosted by Frank Augustyn. Using Kenneth MacMillan’s ballet adaptation of Romeo and Juliet as an example, Frank Augustyn and other dancers discuss the universal theme of the story and the dramatic challenges it offers the dancers. They discuss Prokofiev’s score and note the importance of partnering in creating a sense of the lovers’ physical passion. The concept of line in dancing is also discussed. Includes performance excerpts from the Royal Ballet performance with Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev.
