Synopsis

Radio programme in which Alan Dent, Philip Hope-Wallace, and Roger Manvell discuss whether Shakespeare’s plays, and Hamlet in particular, can successfully be translated to the screen. Focussing on the Laurence Olivier Hamlet (1948) for which Dent edited the text, they discuss whether there are justifications for the cuts and alterations that were made and whether, in the end, this interpretation of Hamlet is a convincing one.
