Notes

General
`Bob Crowley’s set, beautifully lit by Brian Harris, captures the mellowness of this production’s wistful allegory of growing up. Falling leaves, sheaves of corn, peasants from a Millet canvas, cupped parasols, like flowers closed in sleep, opening like white mushrooms." Martin Hoyle, Financial Times (8 August 1985). N.B. The lighting at the RST was designed by Chris Ellis; Brian Harris lit the Barbican production.
History
Press night 10 October 1984. The production transferred to the Barbican.
