Synopsis
Shows the steps necessary to bring a play to the stage in Shakespeare’s time, from conception to presentation. Describes the members of the acting company and demonstrates the way productions were rehearsed and costumed. Portrays the architecture and layout of the theatre, stage movements, use of scenery, properties and sound effects. Uses prints, woodcuts and paintings and diagrams based on a scale model of the Globe playhouse. The narration includes quotations from Shakespeare’s own directions and those of his contemporaries.
