The annual Oxford University Alumni Weekend aims to showcase the Collegiate University as a whole, giving prominence to a range of current research and its application to real world situations, as well as recognising the achievements of Oxford men and women. The series also includes podcasts from other alumni events including study days and the Oxford European Reunion. Recent lectures (accessed 2015) have covered subjects as wide-ranging as Tibetan Temples, The Outbreak of the First World War, Understanding Fracking, Cyber-Attacks, and Richard Nixon’s reputation 40 years after Watergate. The lectures are also available on the University’s iTunes site.

The Irish Film Archive acquires, preserves and makes available Ireland’s moving image heritage. The collection is broad, aiming to reflect all aspects of indigenous film production, whether professional or amateur. It incorporates fiction, features, public information films, amateur material, documentary, newsreel, experimental film and animation. The Archive maintains a research library covering all aspects of Irish and international cinema and a Paper Collection providing primary research material on the history of Irish film. It organises film screenings courses and lectures. A small number of podcasts related to discussions of Irish cinema are streamed.

The Video tab lists the series Stephen Hawking’s Grand Designs, Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking and Stephen Hawking’s Universe with links to purchase at amazon.com. There are also links to interviews and lectures hosted on YouTube; these include Hawking’s appearance on The Simpsons, the 50th NASA Anniversary Lecture and a lecture delivered at the White House in 1998 introduced by Hillary Clinton. The site also provides transcripts of some of Hawking’s lectures and a list of his publications.

The Medical Research Council’s aim is to improve human health through world-class medical research. It supports research across the biomedical spectrum, from fundamental lab-based science to clinical trials, and in all major disease areas. It works closely with the NHS and the UK Health Departments to delive research that is likely to make a real difference to clinical practice and the health of the population. The Council hosts a series of short films on 100 years of life changing discoveries on its YouTube channel,other topics include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) lab grown thymus, and the immune system and transplantation. The site hosts MRC Talks, a short series of podcasts which accompany the online Network magazine: one episode looks at how a group of scientists at the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit in Bristol are practising open science – the art of making their research freely available online.
