Description
An Ofcom consultation paper, published on 24/7/2007, examining how Participation TV should be regulated in order to protect viewers (particularly significant in view of the number of serious compliance and editorial failures in PTV that had recently come to light and were the subject of an inquiry by Richard Ayre), and to ensure that advertising is kept separate from programme content (‘editorial’) in accordance with European broadcasting legislation and UK regulation. Supporting documentation (an independent market overview and content analysis and viewer research on participation TV quizzes, adult chat and psychic readings) were also published online. Consultation closed 17/12/2007
