- In the course of Ofcom’s review of the Television Production Sector in 2005, both Public Service Broadcasters and producers highlighted to Ofcom that the area of new media rights needed to be revisited. In 2006 the two groups agreed new terms for the exploitation of these rights. Following consultation earlier in 2007 (www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/cop/cop.pdf) Ofcom published revised Guidance in light of these changes in June. PSBs must consider this Guidance when drawing up new Codes of Practice for commissioning from independent producers, which Ofcom will be asked to approve in due course.
