- In November 2010 the Prime Minister David Cameron announced an independent review of how the Intellectual Property framework supports growth and innovation. This review, by Professor Ian Hargreaves, assisted by a panel of experts makes ten recommendations designed to ensure that the UK has an IP framework best suited to supporting innovation and promoting economic growth in the digital age. Hargreaves and the panel found that copyright laws, dating back three hundred years, reating economic incentives for innovation by protecting creators’ rights are today obstructing innovation and economic growth. The report is commonly referred to as The Hargreaves Report.
