- Description
- This report was written in the light of a perceived increase in viewer sensitivity towards violent content, particularly in pre-watershed television programmes. The report considers the depiction of violence in films, the internet, video games and on mobile phones. The research, carried out across a broad demographic, covered drama, documentaries, factual entertainment and news (both television and online). Overall the respondents felt that the depiction of violence in broadcast media was acceptable in terms of volume and intensity; the BBC emerged as a trusted provider of content in an increasingly violent world where violent and extreme sexual content was readily available via other content providers.
