- An independent report commissioned by the UK Film Council and carried out by Oxford Economics. It looks at the economic impact of the core UK film industry and identifies and quantifies the economic benefits of the UK film sector, concluding that the industry’s growth is outstripping the UK economy as a whole, with significant job growth, despite the recession. The report also says that UK film tax relief remains crucial to future growth and looks at the industry’s impact across the wider economy, identifying opportunities to diversify and grow the export base. The report emphasises the growth of Video-on-Demand will change the way film is consumed and warns of the dangers of copyright infringement. Links between the film industry and other creative sectors should be strengthened.
