- BGS Library holds a geoscience information resource of worldwide significance. Developed over 150 years, it contains the extensive holdings of the former Geological Survey and Museum as well as those of the Overseas Geological Surveys and its predeccessors. The archives contain material of historical and national interest. There are 200,000 maps and atlases of the UK and overseas. The photographic collection which dates back into the last century includes both BGS and deposited collections.
