VALENCE HOUSE MUSEUM & ARCHIVES

Description
The majority of the collection belongs to the two film societies operational in the borough from the 1940s to the 1970s. The Dagenham Co-operative Film Society produced drama and documentary films in the borough of Dagenham during the late 1940s and 1950s after the merger of Barking and Dagenham boroughs in 1965. The Fanshawe Film Society operated as a film club but shot some documentary footage in the 1960s and 1970s.
